SALT LAKE CITY – Two men were transported to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries after a drive-by shooting in Salt Lake City on Saturday, police said.

The shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. near 590 North and 1100 West, according to a tweet from the Salt Lake City Police Department. Police believe the two men were on the sidewalk at the time.

The police have limited information about the situation and the investigation is ongoing. The car involved in the shooting was possibly a Nissan, Lt. Gordon Worsencroft of the Salt Lake City Police Department. The police tweet identified the men as teenagers, but Worsencroft said they had not verified the people’s ages.

Other people were not injured in the incident, said Worsencroft.

“There have been reports that a house may have been hit, but we don’t think this house is necessarily a target,” said Worsencroft.
