Bertha (Bea) Landry Cloward AKA Mrs. James L. Cloward Sr, 92 years old, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2021 in the Beehive Home of Salem.

Bea was born on December 18, 1928 in Sunset, Louisiana to Ashley and Euphrosia Robin Landry. She grew up in Opelousas, her family was the same Landry’s of St. Landry Parish and St. Landry Bank. She received her education in a Catholic school through 4th grade when she left school to support her family by picking cotton. As a teenager, she met her 66-year-old future husband, James L. Cloward Sr. They became parents of 8 children.

Bea was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved the gospel deeply. She and James Sr. served several missions together and have been involved in many service projects in San Diego, California. She served many Church callings, including three times Primary President and Relief Society general president three times.

Bea had a way of making everyone feel welcome. She was kind, a friend to many, and loved by everyone she met around the world, but most of all by her beloved family. She leaves behind her children: James L. (Eileen, deceased) Cloward Jr, Ashley B. (Cheryl, deceased) Cloward, Geary W. Cloward, William C. (Gilena) Cloward, David G. Cloward, Nancy E. (Gail) DeMille and Barbara E. (Paul) Roberts; 60 grandchildren, 120 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Her parents Ashley and Euphrosia Robin Landry precede her in death; Husband, James L. Cloward Sr; Daughter, Patricia A. Dunn; and daughter-in-law Eileen Cloward.

The family would like to thank the Beehive Home of Salem for the loving care and service they provided to our mother and the Sunset Ward for the service they provided to Bea.

The funeral will take place on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends can call before the service from 1 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. The funeral will take place at a later date in the Saint Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau, Louisiana.
