The Women’s NIVC is a nationwide post-season tournament sponsored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The Roadrunners will step into the field this week and begin their journey in Ogden, Utah on Friday, December 3rd. CSUB will face Weber State, with the option to play either Pacific or Portland State the next day until a first-round win is achieved.

Under the direction of Giovana Melo, who is in her seventh competitive season at CSUB Volleyball director, The ‘Runners will make their third postseason appearance after earning NCAA tournament spots in 2014 and 2017. The NIVC was revitalized in 2017 and Bakersfield will make its first appearance in the championship.

In their first season in the Big West Conference, the Runners finished fourth with an 11-9 record in the highly competitive league. That year, CSUB posted an overall record of 18-10 for a win percentage of 0.643, the highest rating a runner has received since moving to NCAA Division I in 2007.

Weber State (20-9, 13-3 Big Sky) will host the mini regional event with four NIVC-affiliated teams in Ogden. The Wildcats won the Big Sky Conference regular season title, but Weber State was upset by runner-up Northern Colorado in the Big Sky tournament championship game on his home court.

Further information on the CSUB’s trip to the NIVC will be made available in the coming days. Stay tuned here on GoRunners.com and follow @CSUB_Volleyball on Twitter for the latest information on tickets, broadcasts and more.
