Betty Christensen Gwyther Obituary (1936-2021) – Ogden, UT

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Betty LorRaine (Christensen) Gwyther, our loving and devoted wife, mother and friend of all whose lives she has touched, on December 15, 2021.
She left us while she slept peacefully in her residence in Clinton, Utah. She was in her 85th year.
She leaves a lot of stuff on her daughter and son who have no idea what to do with it.
So if you are looking for ceramic molds, porcelain dolls or countless odds and ends. You should wait for the appropriate time and contact us.
Tomorrow would be good.
This is not an advertisement for a flea market, but an obituary for a great woman, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was born on April 5, 1936 in Ephraim, UT, to the late Jesse Boyden and Vera Ruth Lund Christensen.
Betty met her sweetheart Bruce on a blind date. They married on February 25, 1961. She then followed him from Utah to New York to Alaska to Texas and then back to Utah and still enjoyed nearly 61 years of marital happiness.
Betty loved to be surrounded by beauty. She has made the world a more beautiful place through her artistic endeavors in China, painting, porcelain, and ceramics. In her younger years, she also enjoyed teaching others in these media through her business, the Palcraft Artistique Studio in Bountiful, UT.
She loved her garden and trust us, she loved weeding this garden with her grandchildren as her helpers when child labor was legal (so they were told).
She leaves a broken family that she was very proud of.
She is sorely missed and is survived by her sweetheart Bruce Lynn Gwyther, sister: Nancy Murphy, brother: Boyd Christensen, children: Thomas (Stephanie) Gwyther, Lori (Don) Figuera, grandsons: Brandon, Andrew, Aubrey, Spencer, Stacey, Chelsey, Rebecca, Joshua, Jonathan and Jennifer and 10 great-grandchildren and their 16 nieces and nephews.
Her parents preceded her in death: Jesse Boyden Christensen and Vera Ruth (Lund) Christensen and brothers: Kenneth Christensen and Richard Christensen.
She was strong, selfless, determined and fought long and hard to be there for the people she loved. She was by far the strongest person our family has ever known, and she will always be an inspiring example of joy, courage, and sacrifice. She was the light of our life, and that light will burn in our hearts forever until we meet again.
The family would like to thank Bonnie Mayberry and the staff at Rocky Mountain Hospice for their wonderful care over their last few months.
A special nod to who made her grandma: Brandon Gwyther, his lovely wife Heather, and their cute daughter Arya for stepping up as caregivers for “Grandma Betty” over the past few weeks.
A viewing will be for Tuesday, December 21, 2021, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Clinton 22nd LDS Ward with a tour from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Buried in Price City Cemetery.
A link has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, “Don’t grieve for me.
Remember the best times, the laugh, the song.
The good life that I lived while I was strong.
Continue my legacy, I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and the sun will surely shine through.
My mind is relaxed, my soul is calm.
I remember everything how I was really blessed.
Continue traditions no matter how small they are.
Get on with your life, don’t worry about falls
I miss you all very much so keep your chin up.
By the time the day comes we’re back together
