Cavaliers vs. Jazz best bet for Tuesday, January 10 (Cavs win Mitchell’s return to Utah)

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Donovan Mitchell have a bit of an emotional game on Tuesday night, as the Cavs star will play his first game against the Utah Jazz since the team traded him to Cleveland this past offseason.

Mitchell has been playing some of the best basketball of his career in Cleveland, including a 71-point game against the Chicago Bulls on Jan. 2.

The Jazz got off to a hot start this season, but they have come crashing back to earth, losing seven of their last 10 games to drop to the No. 11 seed in the Western Conference. Former Cavs guard Collin Sexton (hamstring) is out for this game, but Cleveland will get to see Lauri Markkanen, who is having a career season in Utah.

The Cavs are just 8-11 straight up on the road this season, but with Utah’s recent struggles, does the team have value as a short favorite?

Before we bet on this game, there is a great offer from BetMGM that you can take advantage of in tonight’s matchup:

BetMGM Cleveland Cavaliers offer

New BetMGM users in Ohio: win $200 on a $10 bet when one 3-pointer is made in the Cavs’ matchup with the Jazz by following these instructions.

  1. Sign up for BetMGM using this link
  2. Deposit $10 or more into your account
  3. Bet $10 or more on any Cavaliers Jazz wager

That’s all you need to do! As soon as one 3-pointer is made in this game, you get $200!

The Cavs have plenty of elite shooters, including Donovan Mitchell, who is averaging well over three shots made from deep per game this season. The Jazz also rank fourth in the NBA in 3-pointers made per game. So, this is about as safe of a wager as you could make!

So, how should you make you wager on this Cavs Jazz game? Here are the latest odds and my best bet for Mitchell’s return to Utah:

Cavaliers vs Jazz prediction and pick

The Jazz are 6-1 against the spread as home underdogs this season, but I’m going to buck the trend and take the Cavs to cover as 2.5-point favorites on Tuesday.

Cleveland ranks second in the NBA in net rating this season, compared to the Jazz down at 13th.

The biggest issue for Utah has been the team’s defense (27th in defensive rating), which is going to be a problem against Mitchell and Darius Garland tonight.

The Cavs will have their hands full with a good-shooting Utah team, but both of these teams are in the top 10 in the league in offensive rating this season.

The Jazz picked up a bunch of wins against the spread as home dogs early in the season, but the team has covered in just five of their last 12 games.

Cleveland’s defense should be able to handle Markkanen, as Evan Mobley is one of the best matchups for the Jazz forward in the NBA.

I expect Mitchell to come out firing in this game, and I think the Cavs, who have won two of their last three road games, continue to show that they are making strides away from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
