Salt Lake City—Colonel (Retired) Charles Erland Elmer, our beloved and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend left this earth December 23, 2021, to join his wife Janice Adams Elmer on a new adventure, where he will be free from Alzheimer’s and cancer. Born December 11, 1935 to Norma Erlandson Elmer and John Clark Elmer in Payson, Utah. Erland graduated from Payson High School and continued on to The University of Utah where he graduated with a Civil Engineering degree. While at the U of U he met the love of his life, Janice Adams. They were married December 4, 1959. Erland joined the Utah National Guard and Kiwanis in 1963. He served in the Guard for 35 years. Erland served in Sugarhouse Kiwanis Club as President, Lt Governor of the UT/ ID and other roles. He received the Legion of Honor, and many other awards.

He is survided by his son John Allen, daughter Elizabeth, granddaughter Elizabeth Grace, brothers; Stan, Lowell and sister Frances.

In an effort to slow the spike in COVID at the time, we postponed services. We will have a Celebration of Life at Stark’s Funeral Parlor , 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City on June 15, at 6:00-8:00PM. We request masks to be worn by everyone, regardless of vaccination status. Guests are encouraged to park on the north side and you may share your memories and photos with the family at www.starksfuneral.com
