OGDEN, Utah, July 14, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) – Crews battled a grass fire near the mouth of Ogden Canyon Wednesday morning.

“Firefighters reacted to a grass fire on the hillside near the mouth of Ogden Canyon
about 9:49 this morning, ”said a press release from the Ogden Fire Department. “The caller reported a grass fire near the power station on the north side of Canyon Road.”

The fire had spread to some trees and tall grass, the press release said. Upon arrival, the crews quickly surrounded the fire and kept it under control. The fire was extinguished and contained on about half an acre. The crews put a wet line around the perimeter of the fire to make sure the embers don’t re-ignite.

Nobody was injured by the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated and Rocky Mountain Power is on hand to survey the power plant. No failures are currently reported.

“Due to the access, the water supply and the lack of canyon winches, the fire fighters were able to quickly mitigate the incident,” the press release said.

A total of 14 firefighters from the Ogden city fire department and the Weber fire department responded with a cart, an engine, three brush carts, a UTV and the battalion chief.
