Debra Holmes Ely Obituary (1956-2021) – Orem, UT

A loving mother, Debra Holmes Ely leaves her husband Don Ely and daughter Rachelle Ely Day (Andrew). She also has two surviving sisters, Gail Holmes Oakes (Terry) and Trina Holmes Belliston, as well as a brother, Stuart Holmes (Sharon). Her parents Dorothy Smith Holmes and Quentin Warren Holmes
preceded her.

Debbie graduated from McClatchy High School in Sacramento, California and completed a Masters in Recreational Therapy from BYU. Debbie spent her working life in the mental health field helping others find peace and orientation. She had a keen sense of when others needed support. Although she never intruded on others, she was always ready to help.

Debbie was a member of Latter-day Saints of Jesus Christ and an avid reader of LDS Church books. She also loved traveling, including multiple cruises with her husband Don and often with her beautiful daughter Rachelle. Debbie enjoyed having a neat home with everything clean and in its right place. Debbie had a close relationship with her extended family. She also had a loving bond with her dog Gordon, which gave her a lot of comfort. Unfortunately, your life and work on this earth was interrupted by a devastating disease with no known cure.

The loved ones and friends she left behind miss her amazing spirit even though they are aware that their suffering is now over.
