DeLamar Holt Obituary (2021) – Salt Lake City, UT

DeLamar “Gov” Holt, Jr.

1936 ~ 2021

Salt Lake City, UT — DeLamar “Gov” Holt, Jr. was born in Salt Lake City on June 27, 1936 to DeLamar and Afton Hess Holt and returned to his heavenly home in Holladay, Utah, on December 11, 2021 . Gov spent his first 16 years in Montrose, Colorado and then moved back to Salt Lake, where he graduated from East High in 1954 from the University of Utah in 1961. He married Wilna Wagstaff (daughter of Arthur John and Bessie Wagstaff) on June 12, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Gov and Wilna settled in Southern California from 1963 to 1975 before returning to Holladay, Utah with their five children. Gov has had a successful career in sales and management at various companies and has spent the last 30 years of his career with Security National Life Insurance and Memorial Estates Cemeteries and Mortuaries. He enjoyed his ministry in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which included the elders quorum, young men, bishopric, and high council. He had a testimony of the plan of salvation and the gospel of Jesus Christ. He wanted his children and grandchildren to know of his great love for His Savior.

An avid sports fan and the first recipient of the LDS Church Homer C. Warner Athletic Award, Gov loved the years he spent in the chain gang during the BYU soccer games. He leaves Wilno, his 60-year-old lover, her children: Kay (John) Thomas, Karen (Robbie) Bosco, David (Jill) Holt, John (Michelle) Holt, 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, sisters Marlene (Paul-deceased) Curtis, Janet (David) Dungan, Kay (Ruel) Barker and many beloved nieces and nephews. In death Gov precedes his angel daughter Kathi Marlene … “the wind under his wings”. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, December 17, 2021, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Holladay ~ Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S Highland Drive, Holladay, Utah.
