Drivers watch out! UDOT is planning locks, diversions on I-80

SALT LAKE CITY – Motorists planning to travel on I-80 in Salt Lake and Summit counties next week should plan ahead to avoid significant delays.

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) announced three projects along I-80 that could be a headache for travelers on the freeway on Thursday.

I-80 on Redwood Road

UDOT will close the Redwood Road driveway to I-80 heading east from Friday evening September 17 at 6:00 p.m. to Monday morning September 20 at 5:00 a.m. During this time, drivers must have a different access to I. find -80. The ramp will be re-asphalted and the crews will also replace the concrete barriers.

Interchange I-80 / US 40 east of Park City

The transfer ramp from US 40 to I-80 in a westerly direction will be closed on Monday. It will reopen on Thursday September 30th. Motorists must use the Silver Creek Road ramp to get onto I-80. In addition to applying an anti-icing coating, the crews will also repave the ramp. This project also includes the replacement of concrete barriers.

I-80 east of the I-84 interchange

I-80 will be restricted to one eastbound lane near the Echo Canyon rest area until Saturday, September 18. According to UDOT, drivers should expect delays of 20 to 30 minutes. This section of the highway will be repaved and there will be heavy truck traffic in the area.

UDOT would like to remind motorists to be careful of other motorists as well as those who work on the highways.
