Janice Elaine Evans – St George News

Janice Elaine Evans passed away peacefully on Aug. 3, 2022, at her daughter’s home in St. George, Utah, surrounded by her family. She was born in Mt. Harris, Colorado, on May 21, 1938, to Albert and Edna Roth.

She grew up in Mt. Harris and spent a lot of her childhood with her grandmother, Louise Bisby. Her family moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming, where she graduated from high school in 1956.

She married Rodney Evans in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 13, 1968. Together they owned and operated The Moqui Trading Post in Roosevelt, Utah, for 18 years following 25 years in the golfing business. They retired to St George in 1989.

Janice was an avid gardener, collector of old glass and creator of many beautiful quilts for her family to enjoy. Above all, she was an animal lover. She found so much joy in every animal, especially her cats.

She is survived by her husband Rod; daughter Cindy Maestas and husband Paul of St George; Kimmie Rouse and husband Warren of Rock Springs, Wyoming; Mark Moriarty of Mesquite, Nevada: stepdaughter Xan Horn; stepson, Zel Evans of San Diego, California; and brother Allan Roth and wife Jan of Vernal, Utah.

Janice had six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her grandson Brandon Felderman and stepdaughter Cheri Fox.

A family celebration of life was held Saturday, Aug. 6, at her daughter’s home in St. George.
