March 12, 1948 – December 3, 2021 (age 73)

Jim died peacefully with loved ones by his side on December 3, 2021. He fought a long and tough battle with COPD and emphysema, as well as complications related to COVID. He was born on March 12, 1948 in Ogden, UT to Sylvester & Floetta Wirth.

Jim attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, exercising, and doing several jobs during his teens. He enlisted in the US Army and completed several tours as a communications specialist during the Vietnam War. Jim returned to the States where he married Nanci Soto of Corinne, UT, in October 1969. They had two boys, Brandon & Jeremy, and later divorced.

Jim was an avid self-learner, amateur prospector, and loved most of the things that were natural. He loved spending time with his children and later with his grandchildren, camping, hiking, fishing and hunting. He spent most of his life in Nevada working in the casino entertainment business to support and provide for his family.

His siblings Rex (Stephanie) Wirth Ellensburg, WA survived; Terry Wirth CA; Walt (Sheri) Wirth and Zane (Susan) Wirth of Montpelier, ID; Kay Wirth Las Vegas, NV; Sue (Mylan) Warnes Liberty, UT. His sons Brandon (Holly) Wirth Spring Creek, NV; Jeremy (Alisha) Wirth West Wendover, NV and his grandsons Matt (Maria) Anzalone, Keoni Miles, Dylan Wirth, Austin Wirth, Drake Wirth, Quinten Wirth, as well as 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His two parents, Sylvester & Floetta Wirth, preceded him in death; two brothers, Kelly and Roy Wirth.

Jim will be very missed. The family would like to officially express our thanks and gratitude to all the medical staff of the SICU unit of the VA hospital, who looked after, supported and accompanied our father throughout the process. Thank you very much.
