Kenneth LeRoy “Kenny” Holmes 80 from Vernal passed away on Monday, September 27th, 2021 at his home.
He was born on November 16, 1940 in Vernal Utah to Cecil LeRoy and Fern Adelia Allen Holmes. He married Connie Jean Pierce on September 15, 1961 in Vernal, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS temple on June 19, 1970.
He was husband, father, grandfather and friend. Kenny loved camping, hunting, and the outdoors. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Kenny worked for Art Boren and Rex Pierce at Gilsonite Mines
Then he learned the love for the oil fields and the satisfaction of hard work for DE Casada. He later started his own construction company with his brother-in-law Glade, called H&H Construction and Ouray Construction. Kenny influenced and worked with his sons to form the Bolt Action Construction Company before selling it to Cloyde Holmes.
After his retirement he could finally do what he wanted, whenever he wanted, which usually played with his grandchildren and was a big eye-catcher.
He leaves behind his wife Connie, children, Leah (Kirk) Jean Harrison from Vernal UT, Kenneth Cloyde (Donna) Holmes from Vernal UT, Trenton Scott Holmes from Vernal UT. 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way and one great-grandson.
In death his parents precede him; Cecil & Fern Holmes, Roy and Enid Lawson, Jack Holmes, Scott Timothy and Ed Bowles in-laws Rex & Melba Pierce’s brother-in-law Billy, Wayne, Glade Holmes and Blaine Perce
The funeral will take place on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Thursday 6-8pm and Friday 1 hour before the funeral at Rock Point Cemetery.
