KOLKATA: At least 20 shanties were wiped out in a fire in Kolkata’s Salt Lake City on Monday morning.
The fire broke out in Central Park around 8 a.m.
No injuries or casualties were reported.
According to locals, “the fire broke out in one of the huts and spread to the other huts”.
About six to seven fire brigade tenders were put into service to put out the flames.
State Fire Brigade Minister Sujit Bose rushed to the scene to oversee the rescue operation.
The fire was brought under control and extinguished within an hour.
Fire officials said the matter is being investigated.
