1926~2022

– Lucile Merkley Tucker Terry was born on December 20th, 1926 in Tridell, Utah and passed away on April 28th, 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born to John Golden Merkley and Carrie Macel Swensen. She was the 4th child of eleven. She had four brothers and six sisters.

She attended school in both Tridell and Vernal, Utah. She Married Pat C. Tucker on August 25th 1945 and was later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had one daughter, Janice, in 1951. She lost her loving husband in 1983 and later married Frank Terry in 1992 who also preceded her in death in 1995.

She has lived in many different places during her lifetime including Texas, Nevada, and Utah. Her first job was cleaning the house, doing laundry and watching the children of a neighbor for 75 cents a day. She retired from Smiths Food King after 25 years on April 1st, 1990. She has been a member of the LDS church her entire life.

She has spent many days on many trips across the country with her sister Nila and various other family and friends. She took a world trip with Pat in 1973 visiting many countries. She was always so proud of her garden at her home in Murray where she lived for 50 years before returning home to Vernal after she Frank passed away.

She is survived by her two sisters, Nila (Paul) Luchies and MaryNell Snow; her only daughter, Janice (Nathan) Ridge; grandchildren: Steven Breeze (Leslie Miller), Mark (Amilly) Breeze, and Kim (Josh) Tate; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and dear friends: Doreen, Crystal, and Shelby.

She is preceded in death by her loving husbands, Pat Tucker and later Frank Terry; her granddaughter, Danielle Breeze Williams; her parents; and several of her brothers and sisters.

There will be a viewing on Monday, May 2nd from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah. A funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 3rd at 11:00 am preceded by a viewing from 10:00-10:45 am at the same location. She will be buried in Murray City Cemetery at 5490 S. Vine St. Murray, Utah 84107.

We would like to give a special thank you to Summit Senior Living and Inspiration Hospice, especially her nurse Wendy and volunteer Melanie. They both spent so many hours helping and loving Lucile.
