Obituary for Ronald Stewart (1936-2021) – Ogden, UT

Ronald Hatch Stewart, 84 years old, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather died on April 6, 2021 at his home in Clinton, Utah. He was born to Harold Hatch Stewart and Sylvia Ann Nay Stewart on August 14, 1936 in Ogden, Utah with adorable red hair.

He had a good sense of humor and loved to tease. He always said “you are my favorite” to whoever he was and he made you feel real.

Ron’s happiest moments were spent with his family. He loved airplanes, model airplanes, handicrafts, electronics, computers and could fix everything with duct tape!

He found his everlasting love, Joleen Bybee, while attending Davis High School. Joleen meant the world to him, and their 66-year marriage is an example of long-lasting love. They were married on August 14, 1954 in Ogden, Utah, and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They had six children together. Three daughters and three boys. Ron’s family was everything to him. Spending time together was his greatest joy.

Ron was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed serving in many callings, particularly as a gospel teacher. He loved the Book of Mormon and read it often during his breaks at Hill Air Force Base. This earned him the nickname “Bishop” because he always read it. The gospel brought him much peace, comfort, and hope, especially after the tragic loss of two of his sons.

Ron was very talented with electronics and computers. He worked in the Air Force Logistics Department at Hill Air Force Base for 36 years.

We enjoy the sweet reunion in heaven as Ron joins his mother, father, brother, two sons, grandson, and others who died before him. Ron is survived by his 66-year-old wife, Joleen Bybee Stewart; and four of his children, Debbie (John) Nottingham, Cathy (David) Dalton, Lonny (Jeanie) Stewart, Patricia Martinez; and his 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchildren.

The family celebrated his life with a private funeral service at Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Services entrusted to Lindquists Ogden Mortuary.

Instead of flowers, Ron would love it if you took your loved one on a date.
