Obituary for Vernon Christensen (1936-2021) – Ogden, UT

The 84-year-old Vernon J. Christensen left this earthly life on April 27, 2021, surrounded by his three daughters. Vernon was born on November 2, 1936 in Banida, Idaho. He graduated from Logan High School, where he met his high school friend Edith Brown Christensen on September 19, 1957 in Logan Temple and married. They settled in Ogden, Utah, where they raised their family.

Vernon was a proud veteran and served six years in the U.S. Army, where he learned his trade in a cable repair business that provided for his family for years afterwards. In addition to his unwavering patriotism, Vernon was an outdoor enthusiast who spent much of his free time camping, 4×4, snowmobiling, boating, and hunting. Outdoors, many fond memories have been made between Vernon and his beloved family, all of which will be treasured for years to come.

Vernon has served in Latter-day Saints in the Church of Jesus Christ on a stake mission where he took pride in sharing his core beliefs with others. He later served with his wife on a service mission at the Bishops Storehouse and Dry Pack in Ogden, UT. In addition to his contributions and dedication to the LDS Church, he often served his ward through his membership in the local Lion’s Club and individually his ward by seeking ways to love his neighbors through various ministries.

Vernon is survived by his three daughters Kris Ann Antonio from Ogden, Sonia Noall (Alan) from Bountiful and Shelie Jenkins (Jim) from Riverdale, as well as his eleven grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Christensen; Parents, Austin and Helen Christensen; Brother, Austin Jr .; Sisters, Lorna Hardman and Colleen Hansen; and a great grandson, Rowan Jenkins.

Memorial service on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Lindquists Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends can visit the morgue with the family on Sunday, May 9th from 6pm to 8pm and on Monday, May 10th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am Burial, Lindquist’s Wasatch Memorial Gardens, 1718 Combe Rd.
