Ogden Police: Woman arrested after breaking downtown windows with a machete and threatening police officers

OGDEN, Utah, May 13, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) – A 27-year-old woman is being held bail in Weber County Jail after Ogden police alleged she used a machete to close the windows of six downtown shops break up, and then the police threatened when you arrived to make them stop.

Krystal Duval, 27, faces initial charges:

  • Six cases of criminal mischief, loss of $ 1,500 to $ 5,000, a third degree crime
  • Obstruction of justice, a third degree crime
  • Intoxication, a class C offense.

Police were called to the scene on Tuesday at around 10:07 p.m. on the 2700 block on Washington Boulevard, a statement from an Ogden Police Department official said.

“When I arrived, I saw Krystal break a shop window with a machete,” the statement said. “Krystal received several legitimate orders to drop the machete but refused. Krystal started walking away after being told to stop. Krystal turned to me and wiped the machete against the sidewalk in the middle of the street, causing sparks to fly.

“During the journey, the vehicles had to slow down to avoid hitting Krystal,” the statement said. “Krystal started challenging me as she said ‘come on’ and raised the machete over her head as if to position herself to throw the machete in my direction. Krystal then gave me the order to kill me when she refused to obey the orders. “

Arrest officers were able to subjugate Duval and take him into custody. They found “an alcoholic drink inside and very close to their whereabouts,” the statement said, adding that officials also noticed a strong smell of alcohol on their breath.

“The nearby companies were observed to have their windows broken. The damage to the six companies was over $ 1,500 but less than $ 5,000. The current offense is a criminal offense. “

Duval is being held partly without bail because she is homeless, which makes her a flight risk.
