Patricia Marie Anderson Showell – Cache Valley Daily

October 9, 1954Sep 21, 2021 (66 years)

Patricia Marie Anderson Showell, 66, of Stone, Idaho, died at home on September 21, 2021 after losing her battle with multiple myeloma cancer.

Patricia was born on October 9, 1954 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia to Dan and Cherril Anderson. She was the third of eight children. As part of an Air Force family, Patty lived in numerous locations during her childhood including Washington, DC, San Antonio, Texas, Okinawa, Japan, Fairborn, Ohio, Philippines, Bellevue, Nebraska, Malad, Idaho, Salt Lake City, and Utah Stein, Idaho.

Patty graduated from Malad High School in 1973. She married eternal companion and soulmate, David Showell, on June 18, 1977 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They lived in Stone, Idaho, where they raised four children. Patty was a very supportive mom who attended almost any sporting event, concert, lecturing, or activity that her children attended. At the birth of each grandchild, she filled the freezers with meals and provided them with every necessary blessing, blanket, bib, and spit mat. She easily switched from her children’s events to her grandchildren’s events. She was so proud of each and every one of them and enjoyed being a part of their accomplishments.

Patty loved her job as a librarian at Malad Middle School, where she worked for 18 years. Her love for reading was evident in the many bookshelves that filled her home. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent her time in Christ-like ministry. Patty was known for her delicious poppy seed cakes, which she delivered all over the valley every Christmas. Most of Patty’s family and friends have at least one Afghan, blanket, baby bib, tea towel, or other item that Patty has made. She was a skilled housewife and enjoyed giving presents to loved ones that she had made herself.

Patty was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in December 2013. She battled her way through two stem cell transplants and several other complications with a strength and determination that inspired everyone around her. Because of their courage and strong will, we have been blessed with eight additional years for which we are truly grateful.

Patty will be missed dearly by everyone she loved, leaving a legacy of service. Patty leaves behind her 44-year-old loving husband David from Stone, Idaho, four children; Clayton (Melanie) Showell from Amalga, Utah, Janita (Keenan) Coombs from Syracuse, Utah, Andrew (Stefanie) Showell from Vernal, Utah and Kaleena (Garrett) Moulton from Ammon, Idaho and 17 grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Cherril Anderson, four sisters; Karen (Steve) Hockett of Warner Robins, Georgia, Cherie Anderson of Tooele, Utah, Sandy (Darrell) Jensen of Billings, Montana, Jocie (Steve) Reel of Ammon, Idaho, and three brothers; Dan (Lori) Anderson from Tooele, Utah, Lewis (Desi) Anderson from Malad, Idaho, and Charles (Lara) Anderson from Ammon, Idaho.

Her father Dan Anderson, her father-in-law Jess Showell, her brother-in-law Mark Showell and Kip Orton, and her sister-in-law Karla Johnson precede in death.
