Prep roundup: Ogden, Morgan soccer teams each score 12 goals; Ackley wins Region 1 golf match for Farmington | News, Sports, Jobs

Ogden High girls soccer scored 12 goals and beat South Summit by mercy rule, 12-0, in its Region 13 opener on Wednesday. Nevaeh Peregrina scored four goals for Ogden (5-3, 1-0 Region 13) and Ruth Larsen provided four assists.

Larsen and Addy Howard scored two goals each. Kate Pulley, Bella Gray, Megan Beus and Baelee Ulm scored one goal.

Peregrina, Gray, Aya Obayashi and Abby Wallis assisted one goal each. Emily Blackford kept the shutout in goal.


Morgan beat Grantsville by mercy rule. Brecklee Charlton scored three goals and assisted one for Morgan (7-2. 2-0 Region 13).

Kapree Charlton added two goals and Aly Spagnola assisted two goals. Kiersten Barney, Ashlynn Noss, Kaydence Wardell, Katelin Sampson, Kenzie Kendall, Jayda Jones and Macie Burton scored one goal each.

Noss, Wardell, Kendall and Sampson assisted one goal apiece.


Farmington High golfer Ben Ackley shot 3-under-par 69 to win medalist honors at Wednesday’s Region 1 boys golf match at Valley View in Layton.

Ackley helped Farmington capture first place as a team with a score of 290, four shots ahead of Fremont’s 294.

Individually, Layton’s David Liechty shot 70 and took second. Fremont’s Chase Burton was third with a 72.

Luke Dalebout (Fremont), Luke Pugmire (Farmington), Max Landon (Davis) and Braden Lemke (Clearfield) shot 73 and tied for fourth.

Karson Tesch (Fremont), Cole Taylor (Farmington) and Luke Kelley (Farmington) shot 74 and tied for eighth.

In the team standings, Layton shot 309 in third place, followed by Davis (313), Syracuse (321), Weber (324) and Clearfield (333).
