Prepare basketball recap: Bonneville boys suspend Clearfield early for victory | News, sports, jobs

CLEARFIELD – Bonneville High Boys basketball improved to 3-0 this season with a 50:43 win at Clearfield on Wednesday night in which the Lakers kept the Falcons goalless for the entire first quarter.

Koy Dixon led Bonneville (3-0) with 14 points and made three 3-points. Jake Williams scored 12 points and Joe Tesch added 10 for the Lakers.

Clearfield (0-2), who only scored a goal with two free throws at the 7-13 mark in the second quarter, was led by Dawson Gardner with 10 points. Austin Mitchell added nine points. The Falcons walked 14 of 17 off the free throw line.

DAVIS 63, LEHI 44

KAYSVILLE – Colby Sims took 25 points and Davis got the upper hand early with an 11-3 early in the first quarter to take a win in a duel between the defending 6A and 5A state champions.

Sims knocked down five 3-pointers and added three assists. Max Painter added 14 points and four rebounds, and Rex Sunderland scored a total of six points, six rebounds, four assists and seven steals.

Davis (1-0) turned Lehi 19 times, led to 23 points and outperformed the Pioneers 32-16 in color.

FREMONT 53, RIVERTON 45

PLAIN CITY – In a Silverwolves bout, Fremont beat Riverton 30:22 in the second half to make it 2-0 this season.

Hunter Hansen led Fremont with 21 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter. David Calvert added 11 for Fremont.

PRESTON (ID) 68, SYRACUSE 57 (OT)

SYRACUSE – Preston, Idaho shot 11 of 12 from the foul line to take extra time 15-4 to claim a win at Syracuse.

Brandon Clark knocked down six 3-pointers and scored 20 points for Syracuse (0-3). Carter Semrow and Kaden Ericksen each scored 10 points.

OLYMPUS 80, BOX ELDER 64

BRIGHAM CITY – Olympus beat Box Elder 40:27 in an opening season loss for the Bees in the second half.

Cole Mortensen led the Bees (0-1) with 15 points, Elijah Kersey scored 13 points and Matt Low added 10.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

BEN LOMOND 48, ST. JOSEPH 24

OGDEN – Ben Lomond led by 41:19 after three quarters and took his first win of the season.

Avery Beadles led Ben Lomond (1-3) with 13 points, making four 3-pointers. Dory Jenson scored 12 points.

Sarah Snell scored eight points and led St. Joseph (1: 1).

OGDEN 52, TOOELE 29

TOOELE – Ogden shot 45% from 3-point distance as the Tigers (2-1) hit Tooele on the road.

Grace Pulley led Ogden with 14 points in the 6-out-of-10 shooting with six rebounds.

Mahine Bergeson added 13 points for the Tigers on 5-of-7, with a 3-of-4 mark from 3-point range, five assists and five steals.

Ashley Christensen and Lucy Ballard added eight points each to the Tigers.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 68, WEST 34

SALT LAKE CITY – Layton Christian led 41-18 at halftime, four players hit double digits and the Eagles improved to 2-0.

Ruzgar Boyle made six 3 points and led the LCA with 28 points, Mariana Cubero scored 12, Mia Jones scored 11 and Bianca Silva added 10.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 74, LOGAN 25

LAYTON – Layton Christian led in an opening season win against Logan 49-14 at halftime on Tuesday.

Ruzgar Boyle led the Eagles with 27 points and shot 7 of 9 from a 3-point distance. Mine Iscen added 14 for the life cycle assessment. Mia Jones and Mariana Cubero each scored 10 points.
