Park City Red Wolves manager Scott Mackenzie stood under the lights at Quinn’s Junction Sports Complex with water dripping from his face. The Red Wolves put the finishing touches to their 3-1 win over Ogden City just minutes earlier and celebrated by dousing their coach.

After a sluggish 0-3-1 start to the season, Mackenzie’s team has raised the ship with four wins in a row. The victory on Saturday evening gave the Red Wolves another reason to celebrate on Independence Day weekend.

“Thank you guys for putting the work into training, getting into what we’re trying to do here, incorporating the culture, and implementing the fixtures,” said Mackenzie. “We had some injuries early on, we had some players who came to our camp a little later and we always knew that once we are all fit, when we all have some time together on the training field, we will be a very” would be a very hard team to beat. “

Previously, Ogden City had used the Red Wolves 4-2 as the home team in June, but on Saturday Park City were the team in control.

Most of the first half was very physical and fragile, and the referee let both sides play. Ogden created some good chances but couldn’t go into the net. While Park City had most of the ball possession, the Red Wolves only sat on the board 19 minutes into the first half.

Park City sent a cross from the right side of the field deep into the 18-yard space that found its way to Carter Johnson, who was wide open at the back post. Ogden had no choice but to watch Johnson score on the open net. The Red Wolves went 1-0 into halftime.

Just before halfway through the second half, Johnson led a counterattack deep in Ogden Territory. He shot the ball towards the net where striker Dyson Clapier pushed it home to double Park City’s lead.

Park City goalkeeper Ian Rose made several saves to keep Ogden off the scoreboard, but the opponent eventually broke through with just over 10 minutes before the game. Ogden received a penalty and converted to cut the lead in half late in the game.

The final minutes of the game were hectic, with Ogden pushing for equalizer and Park City hoping to keep Ogden off the net and score another goal at the same time. Eventually, Clapier charged the ball at the Ogden goal and scored another goal to take Park City 3-1 ahead and claim another win. Clapier celebrated by performing a jump kick against a corner flag as teammates piled on top of him.

“We just focused on positivity,” said Mackenzie. “Just because a result doesn’t go in our direction doesn’t mean we didn’t make it. So we just focused step by step, and what you have seen in the last four games is that we are reaping the rewards of staying positive, continuing to work and continuing to buy in. “
