Salt Lake City and Oklahoma City post lowest jobless rates in September

Salt Lake City had the lowest unemployment rate of any major US metropolitan area in September with an unemployment rate of 1.7%, according to data released today by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Oklahoma City followed with 1.9%.

The highest major metro unemployment rates in September were in the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim area of ​​California and the Las Vegas-Henderson-Paradise area of ​​Nevada at 7.4% each. However, the Las Vegas area also recorded the largest year-on-year decline among the major US metropolises – a minus of 8.0 percentage points.

All 51 major US metropolises recorded a year-on-year decline in their unemployment rate.

Of all metropolitan areas of all sizes, the Logan area of ​​Utah and Idaho had the lowest rate at 1.2%, closely followed by Lincoln, Nebraska, at 1.3%. The highest rate was in El Centro, California, at 18.1%.
