Salt Lake City police investigating a homicide after a car crashes into two homes

Salt Lake City Police are investigating after a car crashed into two houses near 600 East and Wilmington Ave on Saturday morning. crashed and a person was found dead next to the vehicle.

The department received information about a person with a gun around 6 a.m., and officers found the crash when they got to the area, said Brent Weisberg, a Salt Lake City police spokesman. The homicide squad and forensics are still in the early stages of their investigation, he said.

Wilmington Avenue is closed from 500 to 700 East and 600 East is closed from 2100 South to Simpson Avenue. They are expected to open in several hours. The department did not see any danger for the community at the time, said Weisberg.

He has no information on whether other people were injured.
