Salt Lake City readies for visit from First Lady Jill Biden

The First Lady of the United States will be here in Salt Lake City on Wednesday.

Dr. Jill Biden, herself an educator, will be visiting Glendale Middle School teachers and students for the first time. She will then visit a COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Salt Lake County.

Your visit is part of the Biden Administration’s efforts to endorse the American Jobs Plan and American Families Plans, which together total more than $ 4 trillion.

About Jill Biden

Biden was born in New Jersey, grew up in Pennsylvania and is the oldest of five daughters. She graduated from the University of Delaware and began her teaching career in that state. In 1981, the year their daughter Ashley was born, she completed her first of two Masters degrees.

She met then Senator Joe Biden in 1975 and they married in 1977. She has three children: Beau, Hunter and Ashley.

Biden received her PhD in Education from the University of Delaware in 2007 and taught at Northern Virginia Community College for eight years as a second lady in the Obama administration.

The First Lady is an advocate for community colleges, military families (Biden’s son, Beau, who died of cancer in 2015, was a major in the Delaware Army National Guard), education for women and girls worldwide, and cancer research.
