Salt Lake City Stars Start 2-0 with Win over Kings

SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City Stars improved to 2-0 to start the 2022-23 season, defeating the Stockton Kings 122-106 on the road at Stockton Arena.

The Stars had seven players score in double figures and were led by Utah native Frank Jackson, who recorded 28 points (9-of-15 FG), four rebounds and three assists off the bench in his first Stars action. Ochai Agbaji and Leandro Bolmaro, who were on assignment from the Utah Jazz, helped the squad to victory with Agbaji posting 12 points and seven boards, and Bolmaro registering 16 points (6-of-9 FG), four rebounds and four assists. Forward Paris Bass added 20 points as a reserve, also corralling nine rebounds for Salt Lake City.

Jackson (13 points) and Bass (nine points) combined for 22 second half points, helping the Stars hold off a late fourth quarter run from the Kings. The Stars are now 7-12 all-time and 5-5 on the road against Stockton.

DJ Steward paced Stockton with 17 points off the bench and Kings two-way player Neemias Queta logged a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

The Stars and Kings will face off again tomorrow night at Stockton Arena at 8 pm MT.
