Speed climbers to get their chance at second IFSC World Cup in Salt Lake City

Tokyo 2020 athletes will get another chance to impress at the second consecutive IFSC World Cup in Salt Lake City.

Last week’s World Championships at Industry SLC only featured bouldering, but this time too, speed will be competitive.

The reigning Italian men’s speed world champion Ludovico Fossali will be on display, while French speed specialist Anouck Jaubert attended the women’s event.

Overall, the combined world champions Tomoa Narasaki from Japan and Janja Garnbret from Slovenia took part in both the speed and bouldering events.

American teenager Natalia Grossman won the women’s bouldering title on home soil at last week’s World Cup, while Czech Adam Ondra won the men’s crown.

The speed competition is scheduled to take place tomorrow before bouldering on Saturday (May 29) and Sunday (May 30).

The IFSC confirmed this week that an athlete had tested positive for COVID-19 before the first World Cup.

The governing body will work to protect the health of athletes, employees and officials.
