August 2, 1976 – October 15, 2021

A beautiful 5½ pound girl was born on August 2, 1976 in Fort Smith, AR to Darrell W. Shaw and Anna G. Germer Shaw. Sunshine has always been the light of her mother and father’s eyes as Anna and Darrell took her into the Shaw family as the seventh child. That light went out on October 15, 2021 when Sunshine suffered an accident at her home in Vernal, UT.

Sunshine enjoyed traveling with her family in 28 of the 50 states, including Hawaii. She graduated from Weber High School and started working for the Internal Revenue Service. She also worked for Jake Johnstun in his Integrated Tax Office in South Ogden.

Sunshine enjoyed backpacking and camping trips in the mountains with her husband Shane; She developed a passion for fishing. Sunshine enjoyed cooking, gardening, painting diamonds, bonding, and spending time with family and friends. She lived her life to the full and with unwavering compassion and tolerance for everyone she knew. Her soft heart brought comfort to those who needed it. Her sense of humor and beautiful smile were a daily blessing. She was a talented piano player and took part in many piano recitals. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she also played the piano for Sunday School services in Ward while in North Ogden.

Sunshine is survived by her husband, Shane Ekstrom, Vernal, UT, and their three children. Her father Darrell Shaw Sr. (Wendy Compton Shaw) of Washington Terrace, UT., Sister Hollie A. Shaw of Tomah, WI., Her brother Darrell W. Shaw Jr. (Teressa J. Shaw) Lamar, AR., Five Nephews and three nieces. Sunshine was preceded in death by her mother Anna, three brothers Christopher, Josh, Kirt, her sister Shawnie Hicken and her niece Sarah Shaw.

There will be a tour on Friday, October 22nd at 10:00 am, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 am at Leavitt’s Mortuary on 36th Street in Ogden, Utah.
