The North Ogden project is impacted by rising land prices. More funds are needed to widen the road transport

NORTH OGDEN – Rising property values aren’t just affecting potential home buyers.

They also impact road projects and add to the land costs required to build and widen roads. Pleasant View requested the injection of an additional $ 1.34 million to purchase land needed as part of the Skyline Drive project and now North Ogden needs an additional $ 1.15 million to build additional property for the ongoing 400 east expansion project.

Citing “market prices and other things beyond the control of the City of North Ogden,” North Ogden City attorney Jon Call told the Weber Area Council of Governments (WACOG) in a letter last month that the estimated cost of land required for the plans exceeding $ 2.85 million already allocated. Accordingly, city officials asked WACOG last week for around $ 900,000 of the additional $ 1.15 million it needed, saying the city would provide the other $ 250,000.

WACOG officials, made up of elected executives from across Weber County, recommended approval of the funding, according to the Call. If received, the money would replenish funds the city had drawn from other city sources to cover costs.

As part of the 400 East project, the street – an extension of Washington Boulevard north of 2600 North – is being widened. There were three lanes with one lane in each direction plus a central turning lane, and there will be an additional lane in each direction and bike lanes going north to 3000 north. Ultimately, there are plans to widen the carriageway further north to 3300 North, although the segment north of 3000 North is likely to require additional phases of work.

Along with the 400 East works, the four driveways to Washington Boulevard-2600 North intersection are being expanded as part of a Utah Department of Transportation project. Overall, the two projects have an estimated price of $ 9.65 million to $ 10.05 million, excluding the new right-of-way costs.

WACOG and Weber County’s agents approved the allocation of the $ 1.34 million needed for the Skyline Drive project, which is still in its early stages. This project involves the development of a road that connects Interstate 15 and US 89 to northern Pleasant View and northern North Ogden.
