Tickets on Sale for Final Rounds in Salt Lake City – Supercross

Ellenton, Florida– Tickets are officially on sale for the final two rounds of the 2021 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Season, a FIM World Championship. Rounds 16 and 17 of the 2021 series will take place on Saturday, April 24th and Saturday, May 1st at Rice Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Supercross returns to Salt Lake City after a historic run of seven races held in May and June last year. Supercross was one of the first sports to create what is known as a bubble environment, and subsequently became the first sport to end its season after being stopped by the pandemic. The University of Utah’s Rice Eccles Stadium, the Utah Department of Health, Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert, and the Utah Sports Commission have been instrumental in making this happen, and the series looks forward to returning to the “State” return of Sport ”to race these last two races of 2021 with fans present.

“The monumental ‘bubble’ of the last seven Supercross races in Utah last year was instrumental in our return to the sport this past spring,” said Jeff Robbins, president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission. “The possibility that fans can return to the Rice Eccles Stadium this year to cheer on the best drivers in the world will be tremendously exciting in the last two races. The Utah Sports Commission is proud to play a key role in the return of Supercross to Utah: The State of Sport. “

The Salt Lake City 7, which these races are known today, were the first in the history of the sport to have no fans, as these races were made for television only and were also featured for the first time – weekday races that there is now was adopted in the form of triple headers throughout the 2021 season. Four triple headers were on the program this season – Houston and Indianapolis, which have already raced, and Arlington and Atlanta, which are due in the next few weeks.

Eli Tomac earned his first career, the premiere class championship against Cooper Webb, who was nicknamed “The Wednesday Wonder” for winning every weekday race in Salt Lake City 7 and longtime competitor Ken Roczen. Roczen is currently leading the 2021 points battle, closely followed by Webb and Tomac, who should make for some dramatic races at the last two events in Salt Lake City.

With Salt Lake City as the venue for the 2020 season finale, it was the eighth venue for a 450SX Class Final in 47 racing seasons. Rounds 16 and 17 of the 2021 season have hosted the 19th and 20th Supercross events in Salt Lake City since the series arrived there in 2001. Ricky Carmichael won that first race, but Ryan Villopoto became the city’s most successful racing driver. If defending champion Eli Tomac wants to join Villopoto, he’ll have to win both laps in 2021.
