Tompkins, UC Davis rally to beat Weber State 17-14

OGDEN, Utah (AP) – Trent Tompkins scored a goal in a 1-yard run with 27 seconds remaining to help UC Davis beat Weber State 17:14 in a matchup between two of the Football Championship’s top teams on Saturday night Beat subdivision.

UC Davis (4-0, 1-0 Big Sky Conference), # 12 on the STATS FCS poll, had lost to the Wildcats four times in a row.

Tompkins took a direct snap and raced around the left end to crown a 15-game, 69-yard drive that cost more than 6 minutes past the clock, giving the Aggies their first lead of the game at 17:14 .

Erron Duncan, a graduate student who put the unprecedented spring 2020 season on hold, had his second career break with 14 seconds to seal it.

Kylan Weisser, who made his second straight start for the injured Bronson Barron (knee), completed 19 of 32 passes for 225 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions for No. 14 Weber State (1-3, 0-1).
