Woman in Silver Alert found safe at Salt Lake airport

The 77-year-old woman, whose disappearance triggered a Silver Alert, was found safely at Salt Lake City International Airport.

The warning was issued around 4 p.m. on Friday after she went missing early that morning. The police assumed that they might have driven to the airport.

Sammie Ellis was located shortly after the first police warning.

Salt Lake City Police Department officials said Ellis left the 1000 South 1000 East area, about two blocks east of Liberty Park.

Ellis suffers from progressive dementia and paranoia, the police said.

Officials said she was carrying a black handbag and blue wheeled carry-on bag when she went missing. .

Ellis was expected to be reunited with his family.
