Auto Remarketing is recognizing the 2022 Women in Remarketing honorees in the May issue of the magazine, and will be posting Q&As with each of these outstanding leaders on the website.

Next up is Angie Provo, who is senior director of operational excellence at NextGear Capital/Cox Automotive.

Auto Remarketing: What is the top trend you’re watching in remarketing/wholesale automotive this year?

Angie Provo: The trend I’m watching the most is our increasing ability to understand and enhance the dealer client experience. Each time we listen to a dealer’s needs, we have an opportunity to provide an industry-leading solution. I’m passionate about this focus because it drives the success of our clients and our business — and it also helps those in the communities our clients serve.

AR: How has technology/innovation impacted your specific area of remarketing/wholesale the most?

Provo: I don’t think there’s any area of the automotive industry untouched by technology these days. For our operational excellence team, it’s a key part of everything we do. We use it to help us gauge the dealer client experience and process the data in order to generate innovative solutions — solutions which would not be possible without investment in technology. In addition, my team is also innovating to enhance the experience for our internal team. We are improving processes, managing change, and are currently working to bring a major internal technology shift to the business in the best possible way.

AR: What piece of career advice would you have for someone new to the industry?

Provo: Invest in yourself. Learn from leaders who have been in the industry for a long time and ask questions. Those conversations will prove fun, interesting and immensely crucial to your future success. Also, consider joining industry organizations, serving on a board or participating in Auction Academy. These groups are happy to help grow the next generation in automotive! As you grow, don’t forget to pay it forward and invest in others. Stand up for new ideas and for quiet voices, invite others to the table and give recognition where possible. These actions do not go without notice. Success is dependent upon many people coming together, trusting each other, and bringing forward their collective knowledge and experiences in order to drive results. What is your proudest moment/accomplishment, career-wise? A popular quote that I fi nd to be very true is “learning happens on the edge on uncomfortable.” I am proud that I never let myself get too comfortable before gathering the motivation to learn something new. Whether it be a graduate course, managing a new area of the business, or tackling a large corporate initiative, I have always enjoyed embracing change to champion my own path to growth
