PLEASANT VIEW, Weber County – Newly released body camera footage early Tuesday showed a dramatic rescue from a burning house.

Pleasant prospect Police Sgt. Robbie Done was nearby when the call came in before 1am about the house on Majestic Circle. The dispatchers had informed him that smoke and flames were coming from the house and that there might still be people in the house.

“Personally, it was really, really intense,” said Done as he sat down and reviewed his reaction to the fire on Wednesday night.

Done arrived to find a woman on the front door, sitting on the front steps.

“(She was) completely with charcoal, smoke, and very confused,” said Done. “I asked if anyone was still in the house. She pointed to the front door in which her husband was. “

The sergeant climbed the remaining steps and found a man lying on his stomach just behind the front door.

“I was able to pull him out, down the stairs where I was met by my fellow officer (North Ogden Police Sgt.) Anthony Bersamin, who then picked up the man, put him over his shoulder and put him on hold in an ambulance,” Done said .

He returned next to the woman.

Once he picked her up and carried her down to North Ogden Police Sgt. Brandon Dives, who then took her to another ambulance. Done said other officers then went around the house looking for other possible victims.

They were ultimately able to save four dogs, including one that the fire department brought out of the house.

“So all four animals and the two victims survived,” said Done.

According to a family member, the couple was still in hospital on Wednesday night recovering from their injuries.

While the family member declined to be interviewed, she wanted to express the family’s gratitude for the “exploits” of the officers, and Dones in particular.

“A couple of people tell me I’m a hero,” said Done. “My family thinks I’m a hero and I’m fine with that, but I’m here for this community to just help and do what I’m supposed to do. I felt like I did something good. I felt really good helping them, but there were a lot of heroes besides me. “

Done said everyone deserves credit for their role in the rescue, and he was just glad that no one – including his colleagues – lost their lives in a dangerous situation.

“We all worked great together as a team and we all had to go home that night,” said Done.
