Deputy Headmaster resigns

FARMINGTON – Leonard Ogden, who has been assistant principal at Farmington Junior High for three years, has resigned and the school district is looking for applications to fill the position.

The school’s website lists two certified middle school positions: assistant principal and career counselor.

Ogden moved to Farmington from Fayetteville in July 2018, along with another Fayetteville employee, Joe McClung. McClung was appointed as the new principal of Farmington Junior High that year, and the Farmington School Board approved the appointment of Ogden as his assistant.

McClung has since been promoted to Farmington, starting July 1 as Assistant Principal for Farmington Public Schools, replacing Terri Strope, who will be serving on June 30.

Ogden was one of four top candidates interviewed for the junior high principal position that became vacant when McClung moved into the administration building. The school board at its May 24 meeting approved a recommendation to hire Teri Morris for the position. Morris, who previously served as the assistant principal at Searcy High School, started in Farmington on July 1.
