Gary Lindsay Obituary (1952 – 2021) – St George, UT
Gary Rawson Lindsay
St. George, UT – Gary Rawson Lindsay, 69, of St. George died on Monday October 11, 2021 after a long battle with health problems and Parkinson’s disease. Gary was surrounded by family members at the time of his death.
Gary was born in Salt Lake City on May 19, 1952 to Janet Rawson and Lionel Ronald Lindsay. Gary graduated from Hemet High School in 1971 and has had several jobs throughout his life. He served as a guardian in LDS chapels in Hemet, California and Orem, Utah and Geneva Steel. Gary worked for Deseret Industries for some time. Perhaps the job he enjoyed most was his time at BYU Creamery on the Brigham Young University campus. His favorite ice cream was Lavelle’s vanilla.
Gary was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He thoroughly enjoyed every calling to which he was privileged. Perhaps his favorite calling was to greet sacrament meeting. Gary loved trains, planes, and the temples of Latter-day Saints of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed trips to the Utah State Train Museum in Ogden, where he could climb and tour the large locomotives. He loved going to the Hill Air Force Base air shows and going through the museum to see all of the planes. He seemed to have information about each aircraft and its place in history.
Gary enjoyed temple trips with mom when she was alive. He talked about each of the temples they visited on their travels and their importance in church history. Gary was very active in RAH when he lived in Orem. He always looked forward to Tuesday afternoon bowling and Thursday evening dinner activities. Gary especially loved the time he could spend with his nieces and nephews. It always put a smile on his face and he was grateful for her love for him.
As the years came and went, time began to take its toll on Gary’s physical body. After he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, his body began to wear out and eventually Gary moved to Red Cliffs Health and Rehab, where he lived until his death.
Gary preceded his mother, Janet Rawson, and father, Lionel Ronald Lindsay, in death. Gary is survived by his two brothers; Mark (Debbie) Lindsay, St. George; Scott (Laura) Lindsay, St. George; and his sister Karen Lindsay, St. George, who will miss him dearly.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Red Cliffs Health and Rehab, Dixie Home Rehab & Hospice for the loving and selfless service and kindness shown to Gary during this time in his life.
A funeral service for Gary will be held in Orem City Cemetery on Saturday, October 16.
The internment takes place in the cemetery of the city of Orem, 1520 N 800 E, Orem.
