SALT LAKE CITY – The average price for a plane ticket from Salt Lake City is about $ 50 more today than it was in late 2020.
And while this can create the feeling of sticker shock, Joe Brancatelli of business travel website JoeSentMe said it was important to remember that what we are seeing now are prices more in line with what we saw before the pandemic saw.
“Now it really feels like a sticker shock,” said Brancatelli, “back to 2019”.
It is possible to find a cheaper ticket price, he said, but with Delta Airlines controlling so many flights from Salt Lake City International Airport, finding a cheaper flight could mean accepting more layovers.
“It will basically be the only way you can lower your prices and accept a less comfortable flight, possibly with a connection,” said Brancatelli.
There is some better news, however. Brancatelli said he expected air travel prices to fall in January and February.
