OGDEN, Utah, May 9, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) – An Ogden woman was charged with assault after officials alleged she tried to stab a passenger on a bus in March.

Misty Lynn Calvert, 39, faced grievous bodily harm, a third-degree crime, in the March 16 incident. The indictment was filed on Tuesday.

A probable cause statement filed by a Utah Transit Authority official said that Calvert was at 2350 Wall Ave. got on the bus and sat in the middle. Within minutes, another woman got on the bus and sat near her back. Then a man came in and sat across from this woman. Neither had any interaction with Calvert.

Calvert could be heard talking to herself, then she went to the back of the bus and sat across from the woman. Next Calvert stood up and waved his arms when she said something incomprehensible to the woman. The male said something to Calvert, who waved her arms further before walking forward again.

“Minutes later, Calvert walked to the front of the bus, bent down and said, ‘No, no …'” the probable cause said. “At some point you hear Calvert say, ‘No, I have to go home, I have to get out of Ogden.’ ‘I’m afraid.'”

Minutes later, Calvert says, Okay, then fuck you as she gets off the bus and runs away and heads south.

A responding Ogden police officer asked the victim what had happened in Spanish. She replied that the suspect “yelled at and threatened her and tried to kick her. (The victim) told Officer Adams that Calvert reached down the front of her pants from her stomach and pulled out a knife. “

The victim described the knife as white and about five inches long. (She) told Officer Adams that the knife was folded first, but Calvert unfolded the knife and raised it in the air above her head and swung the knife at her once. (The victim) stated that when that happened she was scared and felt that Calvert would come after her with the knife. “

The male witness confirmed the victim’s account, the statement said.

Calvert was nearby and was asked if she had a knife and she “actually had a white jackknife in front of her pants,” the Ogden police officer’s statement said.

According to police, Calvert was taken to a local hospital for involuntary arrest.

Calvert’s first appearance in court is scheduled for July 6th.
