Prep roundup: Ogden volleyball wins season opener over St Joseph | News, Sports, Jobs

OGDEN — Ogden High girls volleyball swept St Joseph 25-9, 25-12, 25-14 in the season opener for both teams on Wednesday night.

Rees Bockwoldt led Ogden (1-0) with 18 kills, six service aces and 14 digs. Soledad VanOrden hit 10 kills with 12 digs and two aces. Audrey Wangsgard had eight digs with five aces and four kills.

BOUNTIFUL 3, MAPLE MTN 0

BOUNTIFUL — Bountiful won its third straight match to begin the year, sweeping Maple Mountain 25-18, 25-14, 25-19.

Taylor Harvey hit 13 kills with six blocks, Jordyn Harvey hit 14 kills and Evalyn Chism had 33 assists with four blocks and six digs.

DAVIS WINS 3

Davis High volleyball won three matches at its Davis Classic tournament on Wednesday. The Darts beat Layton 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-14), West 3-0 (25-17, 25-5, 25-8) and Cedar 3-1 (25-21, 25- 12, 20-25, 25-12).

Through the three matches, Aubrey Nielson hit 39 kills with a .358 hitting percentage and Brinley Bush tallied 30 kills while hitting .400.

Loryn Helgesen hit 12 service aces and had eight total blocks. Aimee Larsen had 111 assists. Tournament play continues Thursday at Davis High.
