Preview: Murdoch Mysteries, “The incorrigible Dr. Ogden “

What did Julia get involved in? That was my first thought when I saw pictures for the new issue of Murdoch Mysteries on Monday. Had she been sent to an institution for bad behavior?

As it turns out, she’s here for a very good and important reason. Here is the official synopsis of “The Incorrigible Dr. Ogden, ”written by Christina Ray and directed by Craig David Wallace:

To solve the murder of an inmate, Murdoch sends Ogden undercover to a woman’s reformatory.

And here’s more information from me after watching an episode preview.

Things start out bloody
Murdoch Mysteries isn’t known to go over the top with its portrayal of corpses, and Death on Monday certainly isn’t. Even so, it’s a little unsettling to begin with the episode, well … you’ll see.

A slasher star guest stars
Anyone who is a fan of Slasher: Flesh & Blood or Kim’s Convenience will recognize Sabrina Grdevich in a key role on Monday. Look out for August Winter (Mary Kills People), Sarah Dodd (Anne with E), David Andrew Reid and Murry Peters.

Margarete is back!
And it’s good to see them.

A new case for Watts
A kidnapping case brings a new person to Watts’ life just when things seem to be deadlocked with Jack.

A history lesson
Yes, the Andrew Mercer Reformatory for Women was a real place. It was opened in 1872 and closed in 1969 (!). Find out more about where it was and a building that is still out of the complex here. And learn more about Eva Tanguay, “The Queen of Vaudeville” and Long Tack Sam.

Murdoch Mysteries airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBC.
