Salt Lake Chamber names Gary B. Porter new chairman of board of governors

SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake Chamber named Gary B. Porter, senior vice president of Deseret Management Corp., as the new chairman of its board of governors on Tuesday. He will begin his term of office immediately.

Porter is a longstanding member of the Chamber and was previously Deputy Chairman of the Board. He will replace outgoing CEO Craig Wagstaff, senior vice president and general manager of Dominion Energy. Under his new leadership, the board will focus on companies that support educators and schools.

“I am honored to take on this role with the Salt Lake Chamber,” Porter said in a prepared statement. “The Chamber’s initiatives, programs and events have had a lasting positive effect on our community. I hope to continue this tradition and look forward to working with chamber members, staff and partners to advance their mission in our country. “

In his role as Senior Vice President of Deseret Management Corp. he is President of Temple Square Hospitality Corporation, Executive Director of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Foundation, Human Resources and Community Relations. He previously served in the Welfare / Self Employment and Presiding Bishopric Administration Services departments of the Church. Porter holds both a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and a master’s degree in agricultural economics from Brigham Young University.

Dr. Donna Milavetz, Regional Vice President of Steward Health Care, will become the new Vice President.
