LAS VEGAS, Nevada, March 15, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) – A Salt Lake City man died in a car accident near Las Vegas early on Saturday morning.

Samuela Tupola, 23, a Dixie State University student, was traveling north on Interstate 15 near Las Vegas Motor Speedway on their way back to Utah with two of his cousins and two friends when a limo was in the lanes headed north-south, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol, her vehicle was head-on.

A semi then hit the car again, officials said.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help cover medical and funeral expenses.

The GoFundMe page states: “Early in the morning of March 13, 2021, Samuela Maluamaka Tupola, his cousin and friends drove home from Las Vegas. As they passed the speedway heading north, a driver drove the wrong way on the freeway and drove straight into their car. They were hit head-on and shortly after a semi behind them couldn’t stop and hit their car.

“Unfortunately, this tragedy took Samuela’s life prematurely. He ended his life on earth the next day, March 14th, surrounded by family and love.

“He was only 23 years old, lived his life to the full, was an advocate for justice for racial inequality, and thrived at Dixie State University. To say he is missing is a huge understatement.

“He had no life or health insurance and left his family with funeral expenses and excessive medical bills.”

The four other occupants of the vehicle were taken to an area hospital; their terms are unknown.
