Salt Lake City opens a new permanent-housing complex for homeless

Salt Lake City took another step on Thursday with the opening of a new permanent housing complex to provide housing for the homeless.

Magnolia, a 65-unit facility at 165 S. 300 East, will help single men and women by providing stable housing and services to help solve the problems that have led to their homelessness.

The new complex is the latest addition to Road Home’s condominium program, which currently includes the 201-unit Palmer Court Complex, 32-unit Wendell Apartments, and hundreds of other standalone units and single-family homes across Salt Lake County.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Salt Lake City, Erin Mendenhall, David Damschen, President and CEO of Utah Housing Corporation, Michelle Flynn, General Manager of Road Home, Laurie Hopkins, General Manager of Shelter the Homeless, and Becky Pickle, President , part of the Board of Trustees of Road Home.
