Salt Lake hits the hottest temperature ever recorded

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – As a dangerous and intense heat wave hits the Great Basin, the heat records keep falling and Salt Lake City made history!

The Salt Lake City Airport weather station has reached a temperature of 107 degrees under this historic heat wave. This is the hottest temperature ever recorded in Salt Lake.

We saw two more 107-degree readings in July 2002 and July 1960. Today’s 107 degrees will also be the hottest temperature recorded on SLC for the month of June.

This new record comes during a series of record-breaking days in which daily highs have been broken one after the other. In addition to the record for the hottest temperature record, the daily record set in 1974 of 102 degrees was exceeded today.

That heatwave ushered in Salt Lake on Sunday the earliest 102 degrees recorded in Salt Lake on Monday, and now we’ve seen daily highs rise.
