Several windows smashed by rocks in Salt Lake City neighborhood

Salt Lake City police said they had received multiple reports of vandalism in a Salt Lake City neighborhood after stones were thrown at several homes Monday night.

In houses in the area from 1900 east and 1500 south windows were cracked and completely broken with stones.

“It’s just amazing. I can’t understand why. What is the motive behind it? ”Said Massoud Housseinali from his cracked window.

It was around 7 p.m. on Monday when Housseinali said something strange had happened at his home on Bryan Ave.

“We heard a very loud noise,” he said. “We came upstairs, looked around, but couldn’t find out exactly what was going on.”

Then, this morning, Housseinali said they “woke up and found that the stone had been thrown against the window”.

Housseinali is a new homeowner. Not sure how much it will cost to repair the window.

“This is our first home,” he said. “We only bought it three months ago so we have no idea what the cost or expense it might be. It’s just unfortunate, you know. “

Housseinali made a complaint to the police, as did another family 2News spoke to on a nearby street. They said they received $ 370 to repair that window, which was completely broken. They said if someone was sitting in the room when it happened they would have been injured.

Deb Penney in Kensington knew something was wrong when she got home and her house was cold.

“I broke both panes of glass and found a rock on the floor,” said Penney.

When 2News caught up with Penney on Tuesday morning, she had a look at the window.

“Actually, it’s kind of creepy,” said Penney. “It’s also frustrating because it’s going to cost some money to fix.”

Salt Lake City police picked up multiple reports of vandalism in the neighborhood since Monday night.

While they were watching this, Housseinali said he was concerned that something like this could happen again.

“We have a camera here, we will install more cameras and create more security,” he said. “That’s the only thing we can do right now.”
