Tami Herrick Engelke | News, sports, jobs

April 23, 1979 – October 16, 2021

Tami Herrick Engelke, 42 years old, died peacefully on October 16, 2021 after a long struggle with the consequences of brain aneurysms. She was born on April 23, 1979 to Richard A. and Sharon C. Herrick.

Tami was born and raised in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1997. After high school, she worked as a dental assistant, which became her passion. Dr. Richard Petty introduced Tami to this field of work and he became her second father. She worked in the dental field for over 20 years and appreciated the relationships she had built through her work. The people she worked with were like family to her. She loved talking to her patients and meeting new people every day. In her spare time, she enjoyed exercise, fitness competitions, baking, and walks with the family.

She married JD Alexander in 2005 and had two beautiful children together, Jack and Ellie.

They were later divorced.

Tami was so loving, funny and energetic. Most of all, she loved her family and especially her children Jack and Elle. Her very best friend in life was her mother Sharon. Tami inherited her passion for dance and fitness from her mother and they were truly inseparable. If you knew her, you would know that she could almost always hang out with her mother when she was away from home or at work.

Her other favorite pastime was baking, and she loved making goodies for her children. Jack and Elle were their whole world. She loved baking them homemade birthday cakes, as well as her favorite after-school cookies. She was a baking perfectionist and loved the joy it brought her family.

Later in life, Tami found the love of her life and married Tyler Engelke. Their love was contagious and everyone knew this just by spending time with them. They had many wonderful times together, but the love story they shared was cut way too short for this lovely couple. Tyler never left her side and stayed hopeful, positive, and optimistic every day for the last three years of her life. Every doctor, nurse, and nurse commented on her unrelenting love and how Tyler stayed by her side through thick and thin.

Tami leaves behind her husband Tyler Engelke; their children, Jack Alexander 16 and Elle Alexander 12; her stepson, bricklayer Engelke; Parents, Rick and Sharon Herrick; her sister Trisha Ellis and her family; and her brother Cache Herrick.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
