Thermo Fisher Scientific is expanding in Ogden, Utah

OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) – A new scientific instrument maker expands into Utah, adding hundreds of jobs to the area.

The city of Ogden announced on Tuesday that Thermo Fisher Scientific is opening a 55,000-square-foot facility with 20,000-square-foot ISO-7 clean room space for the assembly of bioprocess containers and chamber manufacturing in the Ogden Industrial Business Park Business Depot. This corresponds to a capital investment by the company of $ 44 million.

Thermo Fisher Scientific manufactures disposable bioprocess containers that contain liquids used in the manufacture of COVID-19 vaccines and other therapeutics.

“We are very excited that Thermo Fisher has decided to relocate and invest in Ogden,” said Mike Caldwell, Mayor of Ogden. “This is really another great asset to our community’s economic and employment growth that continues our positive momentum as more is discovered that Ogden is the perfect place for business.”

The start of production is expected in September 2021. Thermo Fisher currently employs over 1,600 people across Cache Valley.
