Delma Bennett Naef Obituary (1924 – 2022) – Ogden, UT

Sunday, May 29, 2022, Delma Mary Olsen Bennett Naef stepped thru the Veil of life to be reunited with all of her loved ones. In her own word she writes, I was born January 14, 1924, in Monroe, Utah. My parents were Ervin and Delma Hunt Olsen. My mother passed away when I was 6 days old, so I was raised by my Uncle Osmond and Sarah Staker Olsen in Manti, Utah. My childhood was exciting and wonderful living in a farming community. I worked in the home and helped out on our farm. In my teens I mowed and raked the hay. My favorite job was bottle feeding the baby lambs and calves. I enjoyed a very special childhood as we lived in a neighborhood where all the families were large, so I had many friends. As a child we played outside a lot, marbles, roller skating, sleigh riding, walking on stilts and swimming. At night we played hide and seek until the sirens blew to stay in the house.
I graduated from Manti High and moved to Salt Lake City to work. I married Oliver Jones Bennett on August 23, 1948, in the Salt Lake Temple. Oliver passed away on December 9, 1954, on January 14, 1971, I married Farold D. Naef in the Salt Lake Temple for Time only. Farold passed away on November 29, 2000.
For my enjoyment I loved sewing, embroidery work, quilting and working in my yard among the flowers and vegetable garden. I also loved to read.
I have worked many places both I Salt Lake and Ogden. I retired from Western Mortgage-United Saving after 18 years.
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I served as a teacher in primary, Young Women’s, Relief Society and many stake callings.
After I retired, I was called to be a temple ordnance worker in the Ogden Temple for 21 ½ years until remodification of the temple. The continued for 3 more years after the New Ogden Temple was built. I am a member of the Utah Daughters of Pioneers.
I am survived by my only son, Oliver (Debbie) Bennett of Harrisville. Grandchildren: Jody (Dave) Nelson, Eric (Annie) Bennett. A brother, Clifford Olsen. 5 step children; Mari (Michael) Naef and family, Vickie (Tom) Clements and family, Kevin (Dianna) Naef and family, Rachelle, Christopher (Tammy) Naef and family. I have 8 surviving great-grandchildren, Hunter, KayDee, Alexis, Brennen, Wyatt, Avery, Tayler, and Samantha and one great-great grandson, Luke and many, many nephews and nieces.
I was preceded in death by my parents, one grandson, Bill Bennett, a stepson, Michael, brother’s: Bill, Coy and Paul Olsen, sister, Maude Kingsford, half-brother, Mack and half-sister Fern, and foster brother, Staker Olsen.
A Heartfelt Thanks to Delmas’ Ward family and friends of the Harrisville 8th Ward, for the dinner dates, many rides and visits in their home. A special thanks to Bristol Hospice for their loving help the last two weeks.
