Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City marks major construction milestone

The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City, designed by Portman Architects, has celebrated its topping-out ceremony and is firmly on the way to opening its doors in the fall of 2022.

The capital of the state of Utah is excited to complete a program that promises to significantly enhance the city’s hospitality offering.

Strengthen the neighborhood

The 25-story Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City is celebrating its topping-out ceremony. The development team reports that the project designed by Portman Architects is still on budget and should start in autumn 2022.

When finished, it will host guests in 700 rooms, supported by 60,000 square feet of event space, two restaurants, two lounges and a take-away market. The lobby will also provide a welcoming space for travelers to relax, anchored by a double-sided stone-clad fireplace.

Ambrish Baisiwala, CEO of Portman Holdings, said, “Today marks a significant milestone for Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City, a project that Portman Holdings is proud to lead from development to construction. The property is a continuation of our 54-year relationship with Hyatt. “

Robert Halverson, CEO of Portman Architects, added: “The design for the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City offers an experience of modern, clean and streamlined concepts that take full advantage of the unique location and harmonize with the neighborhood.”

Business and leisure

This new Hyatt Regency hotel is located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. It will be connected to the Salt Palace Convention Center, making it an attractive option for business travelers.

“The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City will bring a new and dynamic hotel to the Salt Lake City market and is a great example of our continued focus on growing first-class, full-service hotels that attract convention and leisure travelers alike,” said Jordan Meisner, senior vice president of field operations at Hyatt.

“I congratulate and thank everyone with the owner and development team, investors, architecture and construction partners as well as our partners at state, district and city level who have worked with us to drive this development forward.”
