Joe B. Gomez (November 21, 1938 – November 10, 2021)

Joe B. Gomez, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 10th, 2021 with his loving family at his home in Green River, Wyoming. He died after a short illness. Mr. Gomez was a resident of Green River and a retired New Mexico resident for 76 years.

He was born on November 21, 1938 in Dixon, New Mexico; the son of Jose Braulio Gomez and Ferminia Martinez.

Mr. Gomez attended schools in Green River, Wyoming and received his GED.

He worked at Jim Bridger Power Plant for 22 years and retired as a sheet metal worker in 1996. He also worked on the Flaming Gorge and Fontenelle Dams. After retiring, he worked in custom sheet metal work and made things for family and friends from Joe’s Tin Shop.

Mr. Gomez was a U.S. veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force and National Guard during the Korean conflict.

He loved fishing, hunting, stone hunting and gambling.

Survivors include a brother, Ruben Gomez, and his wife, Josephine, of Tempe, Arizona; as well as several nieces; Nephews and good friends.

He was led to his death by his companion Pauline Bustos; his parents Jose and Ferminia Gomez; a brother, Ernest Gomez; three sisters, Cecilia Valdez, Bertina Rodarte and Eileen Thompson.

After cremation; A rosary vigil will be prayed on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception, 900 Hitching Post Drive, Green River, Wyoming. On Monday, November 29th, 2021, a service for the Christian burial will take place in the church at 11:00 a.m. Military honors, graveside services and inurnment will take place at the Riverview Cemetery Columbarium.
